Shared vibration absorbers for connected SDOF structures

Abstract This paper considers the response reduction of structures connected with shared vibration absorbers. The two single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) next to each other are minimized by a mass damper as an absorber. optimum values damper’s properties obtained using metaheuristic algorithms. objective function is taken H2 norm regulated outputs, where outputs displacements both structures. To simplify problems, stiffness and damping absorber same. Genetic algorithms used optimize parameters. Two cases considered in numerical examples. first case when we have twin buildings, which structure’s mass, stiffness, second structure stiffnesses different, one stiff structure, another flexible one. Several dampers’ constraints see possibilities reduce structural responses. simulations subjected four selected ground excitations were carried out show absorbers’ performance reducing structures’ different percentages reductions.
